Foster Caring can be uniquely satisfying role; supporting children, young people and families to put right a wrong in their life.

But along with the sunshine there comes a little rain sometimes (to quote a popular lyric!) allegations, complaints and concerns about the standard of care provided are a sad reality. Estimates vary, but generally if you’ve been fostering for 5 years or more you are likely to be subject to an allegation fairly soon.

For just £52 per year, Foster Carers can ensure their own Independent Support is available when they need it, no question. By pulling together in the good times, the majority (foster carers not subject to an allegation) can help the minority who find themselves subject to an allegation and together the fostering community can see them through.

The amount of people showing interest in foster care has risen by 40% this year according to leading independent fostering agency, Fostering Solutions.

Clock Creative Communications, Fostering Solutions creative agency, has been working with Txtlocal to execute a national advertising campaign using SMS to provide instant leads and to measure campaign results.

In May 2010 Clock Creative began work with Txtlocal to coincide with a new national advertising campaign that encourages people to text the word CARE to 60777 for further information. The slogan of the advert, ‘Who Cares?’ invites a response, and texting allows people who are affected by such an emotive campaign to get in touch simply, and instantly. They are then called back by the team at Fostering Solutions who can then provide more information and advice.

Kate Bindotti, Account Manager at Clock Creative said “This campaign has been a new direction for our client Fostering Solutions. The emotive nature of the adverts requires an instant response, and the SMS service has allowed this to happen with great results. We have plans to extend the campaign further with the use of more keywords”.

In the first 3 months Fostering Solutions had received over 120 messages from people expressing their interest, in response to an advert.
